Katrina Kittle

I had the pleasure of attending writing classes with Dayton author Katrina Kittle at Antioch Summer Writer's Institute back in 2002. I have to admit that she's been an inspiration to me ever since. Her website includes all the current information regarding her upcoming book events, signings, and opportunities to learn from this masterful storyteller. Synopsis and sample chapters of Katrina's three novels can be viewed as well as other interesting facts about this up and coming author. If you've never read one of her three novels, you should. Rush out and get them right away!

As an added bonus, she's now an instructor at Word's Worth Writing Center. Her classes have filled up quickly and her students rave about their opportunity to spend time with her and soak in the knowledge that she has to share. Check out our current schedule for her class schedule. Her fourth book, The Blessings of the Animals is due out on August 3.

Waxing Gibbous Press

Waxing Gibbous Press is a venture by my friend, Stacy Hope Jones and her friend Marcy. They specialize in illustrated children's books, illustrated works, and literary collections. I'll let her explain the rest to you:

"The launch of this press is a passionate adventure for us, one much like that of the waxing gibbous moon, illuminating the cobwebby shadows where magic still settles, ripening and turning full. For the two of us, this is the culmination of over 18 years of writing, drawing, painting, poetry, dialogue, performance and study together...

Most importantly, it is a way to share with children and adults a peek into our fantastical imaginings of this world and many others..."

Women Writing for (a) Change

A very good friend of mine works for this wonderful organization, located in Cincinnati. Last winter I enrolled in one of their crafting classes and met a wonderful group of writers and got a lot of direction for some of my personal writing projects.

From their vision statement:
to bring the feminine more fully into expression by supporting the voices and stories of women and girls of all races, classes and nations.

They offer a number of programs, classes, and retreats. The impact this group of writers makes in the Cincinnati area and in the lives of other writers is powerful!

Guys...it's just not for the ladies either. Check out their website at www.womenwriting.org
